Your mission:

Epson is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel with a strong corporate legal background to advise on complex legal matters, including contracts and compliance. A qualification in Dutch law is essential, and familiarity with German law would be advantageous.

Key areas include Dutch and EU competition law, corporate compliance, and IT security incident reporting. Experience in cybersecurity compliance is beneficial but not essential. The role bridges legal, technical, and regulatory domains.

This opportunity would be ideal for someone who understands the evolving digital and AI landscape and brings a collaborative, forward-thinking mindset to unlock new value across the business. This role offers a flexible hybrid working model: 3 days from home, 2 days at our Amsterdam office where are small team of friendly lawyers is based.

What you will do:

  • Act as the legal expert for the assigned country or region, and lead on specialist areas across Europe such as competition law, advertising, data protection, consumer law, and product compliance.
  • Provide independent, business-oriented legal advice across a wide range of areas including contracts, corporate governance, IP, data protection, trade law, packaging, advertising, and occasional employment law support.
  • Collaborate with global legal teams to align on cross-border legal matters and projects.
  • Support legal proceedings and manage external counsel as needed.
  • Deliver legal training, guidance, and reference materials to non-legal colleagues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and other legal documents (excluding M&A).
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and provide legal insight beyond traditional legal topics.
  • Mentor and coach team members to support development and enhance team impact.

 

What we ask for:

  • Qualified lawyer in relevant local/international law with substantial post-qualification experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal issues for diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently and support team development.
  • Quick to understand business operations, culture, and systems.
  • Comfortable in a multicultural environment and fluent in English and the relevant local language; additional European languages are a plus.
  • Excellent drafting and interpretation skills in English and the language of qualification.
  • Proficient in MS Office; able to work without regular secretarial support.
