Here at Epson we are looking for a Hybrid Systems Engineer to join our Amsterdam based team (2 days in the office per week / 3 days WFH).

 

The Hybrid Systems Engineer operates and supports the organization’s cloud and onpremises infrastructure, combining Azure cloud operations with server administration, identity management, configuration management, monitoring and backup oversight.

 

The role maintains onpremises Active Directory and VMware/HyperV environments, ensures compliance with security baselines and resolves operational issues through ITSM (Jira/Ivanti) and ITIL processes. The engineer provides On-Call support, works proactively to improve service reliability and collaborates with internal teams and vendors to deliver stable, secure and efficient hybrid IT services.

 

What you will do:

 

Cloud Operations

    • Manage Azure workloads, virtual machines, storage and platform services
    • Operate identity and access management through Entra ID with a Zero Trust mindset
    • Ensure compliance with Azure security baselines and secure configurations
    • Administer Windows 365 cloud PCs and maintain stable operations
    • Administer Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), Conditional Access policies, and hybrid identity integrations with on-premises Active Directory.
    • Optimize Azure resource consumption using Azure Cost Management, Reserved Instances, and right-sizing recommendations.
    • Implement Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Azure Sentinel / Defender for Cloud for unified observability and security posture management.

 

Server & On Prem Infrastructure Operations

    • Administer and support VMware and Hyper V environments
    • Implement and maintain Azure Arc to extend Azure management and governance to on-premises and multi-cloud resources
    • Manage configuration management, patching, lifecycle updates and capacity planning
    • Maintain on premises Active Directory including Group Policies for secure configuration and access control
    • Oversee server monitoring, performance analysis, backups, recovery testing and system health
    • Deploy, configure, and lifecycle-manage Dell EMC VxRail hyper-converged infrastructure clusters including node expansion and firmware updates.
    • Administer VMware vSphere / vCenter integrated within the VxRail environment including ESXi host management, vMotion, DRS, HA, and vSAN configuration.
    • Architect, deploy, and manage Windows Server Hyper-V standalone hosts and Failover Clustering environments (WSFC).
    • Configure and maintain Hyper-V Replica for VM-level replication between sites as part of DR strategy.
    • Perform VM migrations between Hyper-V hosts (Live Migration, Quick Migration) and between platforms (VxRail ↔ Hyper-V) using tools such as MVMC or third-party converters.
    • Implement unified monitoring, alerting, and ITSM integration across Azure and on-premises using System Center and Azure native tooling.
    • Drive infrastructure automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions) to reduce manual effort.
    • Lead capacity planning, performance baseline, and trend analysis for both cloud and on-premises workloads.
    • Participate in incident management, problem management, and root-cause analysis (RCA) for P1/P2 infrastructure issues.

 

Endpoint & Device Management

    • Manage Intune endpoint policies, compliance, software deployment and device configuration
    • Support remote and hybrid workforce using remote support tools
    • Enforce endpoint security baselines across Windows 11, Windows 365 and mobile devices

 

Operational Support & Incident Resolution

    • Resolve incidents, problems and service requests in ITSM
    • Troubleshoot complex issues across cloud, server, identity, endpoint and hybrid environments
    • Participate in on call rotations for rapid incident response and continuity
    • Mitigate operational problems proactively and perform root cause analysis

 

Configuration, Automation & Continuous Improvement

    • Maintain configuration documentation and operational runbooks
    • Support automation using scripting, GitHub workflows and AI or agentdriven automation tools
    • Use AIbased insights for troubleshooting, monitoring and system optimization
    • Operate System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) for infrastructure and application monitoring manages management packs, alerts, dashboards, and maintenance windows.
    • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and increase reliability through proactive improvements

 

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Collaborate with internal teams (Cloud, Security, Delivery, Service Desk) and external vendors
    • Communicate system changes, incidents and operational updates clearly
    • Provide effective operational support to internal business users

 

 

What we ask for:Bottom of Form

 

  • Experience with Intune endpoint management for policies, compliance, software deployment and device configuration
  • Experience with Azure cloud operations, virtual machines, storage and monitoring
  • Proven hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure IaaS/PaaS services, Azure networking, and hybrid connectivity patterns
  • Administration of onpremises Active Directory including Group Policies
  • Handson experience with VMware and HyperV
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Hyper-V, Failover Clustering, and Windows Server (2019/2022/2025)
  • Experience operating Windows 365 cloud PCs
  • Experience with configuration management, patching, lifecycle updates and baseline compliance
  • Good understanding of Entra ID identity and access management
  • Familiarity with remote support tools for hybrid workforce support
  • Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PKI, and hybrid identity (Azure AD Connect / Entra Connect)
  • Knowledge of server and endpoint monitoring, logs, alerting and backup systems
  • Familiarity with backup, DR, and BCP strategies across hybrid environments.
  • Experience using AIassisted operational tools for troubleshooting, automation and proactive recommendations
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across cloud and on Prem environments
  • Experience with Jira Service Management for incident, problem and request handling
  • Understanding of hybrid infrastructure and cloud migration operations
  • Experience with scripting or automation (GitHub, PowerShell, Python is a plus)
  • Ability to work in On-Call rotations and maintain high operational reliability

 

Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ104) preferred
  • Microsoft 365 Administrator Associate or equivalent is useful
  • ITIL 4 Foundation for ITSM processes
  • Certifications in automation or AIassisted operations are a plus (Microsoft Applied Skills for automation or GitHub Foundations)
